Why ABA

Elite programs are outgrowing legacy structures

Scheduling freedom

Unlimited practices and games with open, flexible calendars — schedule the season your program needs.

2

Scalable athletic departments

Field multiple teams across divisions and grow your program without structural ceilings.

3

Modern visibility

National-level competition paired with media exposure that puts your athletes in front of scouts.

4

Competitive Infrastructure

A league, rebuilt as infrastructure

Membership Economics

Transparent, predictable, professional

ABA membership is built around one straightforward principle: a single league initiation fee, then annual fees that scale with the divisions and events you participate in.

The three ABA fees

One-time
$5,000

League Initiation Fee

Paid once to join the league and become a member — and never paid again.

Per team · annual (avg)
$2,500

Annual Per-Team Fee

Covers the League Kickoff event and the postseason double-elimination tournament. In some divisions it also covers a mid-season round-robin league event.

Per player · annual
$195

Per-Player Registration

Paid directly by each player to register with the league. Covers:

  • Insurance
  • GameChanger premium access
  • Season-long social media coverage
  • ABA player portal
  • Combine & evaluation activities

No ABA gate fees

ABA home teams charge no gate fees — except at league events, at the discretion of PG, PBR, or LakePoint.

Teams cover their own travel

Each team budgets its own travel — airfare, vans, or bus. A charter bus trip runs roughly $3,000–$9,000 depending on trip length.

Travel scales by division

As a general rule, the older, higher divisions carry higher travel costs.

Home teams may also cover

Official scorekeeping via GameChanger, livestreaming, and — for Premier — Trackman tagging.

Umpires

Historically, each team has booked, scheduled, and negotiated its own umpires for home games. That could change with league-negotiated and mandated deals in the future.

Baseballs

The ABA uses Rawlings stamped ABA balls as the official league baseball. Premier and Prospect are $73/doz; Varsity, JV, and Middle School are $55/doz.

Road games carry no game fees — only travel costs. Estimates are subject to change and may differ by division or season. This is a rough planning guide, not an official budget.

Build a rough season budget

Annual league fees are predictable — a flat per-team fee plus per-player registration. Travel is the variable, budgeted and covered by each team. Use the estimator to size up a season.

Estimate your academy budget

Estimate
Annual team fees1 team × $2,500
$2,500
Estimated travel4 trips × $3k–$9k charter bus
$12,000–$36,000
Estimated academy budget
$14,500–$38,500

Academy costs only. The $195 per-player registration is paid directly by each player (not the academy), and the one-time $5,000 league initiation fee is excluded. Estimate varies by division and travel method.
